Welcome to the John Openshaw Society

We are a group of people located in Houston from different backgrounds, professions, and areas of life. We get together under one common interest: Sherlock Holmes. At John Openshaw Society, we meet to discuss anything and everything related to Sherlock Holmes and his trustworthy biographer, Dr. John Watson.

We meet at the Black Labrador located in Montrose. Our meetings are on Sunday every other month at 5pm. Sign up as a Visitor or Member and we’ll keep you posted on when the next gathering will take place.

Sherlock Holmes and the Doom of Devilsmoor

On March 13th, 2016, the members of John Openshaw Society gathered together to see an excellent play put on by Theatre Suburbia. It was an excellent play, and afterwards, we got together for food, drinks, and merry discussion!

John Openshaw Society Meetings

We meet every other month at the Black Lab in Montrose. Each meeting, one of our members presents a presentation on something to do with Sherlock Holmes. We’ve had great presentations in the past and look forward to many more in the future! We also have great food and drinks as well during the meeting.

So, You Think You Know Sherlock?

At each of our meetings, we discuss a particular story or novel from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. After the discussion, we all take a quiz to see who knows their stuff. At the end, the winner gets awesome prizes!

John Openshaw Society Benefactors

The John Openshaw Society would not be where it is today without the support of our Benefactors. A Benefactor is the highest level of membership within the JOS, and we want to thank them for their generosity in supporting our wonderful society.
